Assistant Research Scientist
Person Type:

Hometown: Hyderabad, India
Degree: MSc (2004, Biochemistry) University of Hyderabad, PhD (2013, Chemistry) University of Iowa

Why this group?
I am software consultant for the group. Playing with scientific codes to be able to do cutting-edge research excites me more than anything else.

What is your project?
Compiling and maintaining various quantum chemistry codes that are used in the Shepherd Group and generating integral files to be able to do Quantum Monte Carlo simulations.

Why is it interesting?
FCIQMC gives the most complete information about the system at a level that is not achieved by most of the other techniques in a reasonable time. The fast convergence and the low memory requirements make it very interesting for applying it to the systems that are studied in the Shepherd Group.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
Compiling codes such as PySCF, HANDE-QMC and integrating these with modules written by other scientists.

Why UIowa?
I have been in Iowa City since my first entering the United States (Fall 2016) and the BIG Small-Town aspect of this place makes me very happy as my hometown in India is 6.81 million whereas Iowa City is 77k.

Role in Group:
Software consultant.

What are your future career plans?
I have a fulltime position in the Research Services in ITS here in University of Iowa. Helping researchers use the high performance computing clusters and collaborating with researchers on specific projects is where my heart lies in.
